Congrats USA Women’s World Cup Team.
Congratulations to the USA Women’s World Cup Team Champions. Your 5 to 2 Win over Japan was awesome. A special congrats to Carli Lloyd for her hat-trick just 16 minutes into the game and for winning the Golden Ball award. Lauren Holiday and Tobin Heath added 2 additional goals. Hope Solo won the the well deserved Golden Glove for her excellence in goal. I would have liked to see my friend Alex Morgan, Abby Wambach and Christie Rampone score, but a 5 to 2 victory over the tough Japan Team “ain’t bad!” This was the USA Women’s Soccer 3rd World Cup championship, the 2 previous wins were in 1991 and 1999. I had a near front-row seat at the Rose Bowl for the 1999 Championship, when Brandi Chastain clinched the final PK, took off her shirt and the whole team celebrated. I even got to talk real briefly with Mia Hamm, the Pelé of Women’s Soccer, who led her team to victory, and a couple of other players whom I had known from UNC back when I was still involved in Soccer. It was a special moment and a special victory for America and for Women’s Soccer. So, again, congratulations to Coach Jill Ellis and your victorious World Cup Team.
